What is faux stained glass?

Traditional stained glass is made by cutting pieces of colored glass and joining them with solder. Faux stained glass creates the same look in a simpler way: you place a printed pattern under a sheet of glass or acrylic, trace the lines with faux leading, and fill each area with glass paint.

It is a relaxed way to start, and a good fit if you do not want to buy glass-cutting tools yet.

Faux or traditional: you choose

Faux glass technique

  • No glass cutting or soldering
  • Trace, paint and let it dry
  • Ideal for beginners and relaxed creative sessions

Traditional technique

  • Cut, foil and solder real glass
  • Dry-fit the pieces before soldering
  • Build your skills from beginner to advanced

Every design in the collection includes step-by-step instructions for both techniques, so you can start with faux glass and try the traditional method whenever you are ready.
